Fr. Emmanuel Megwara, MSP - Homily for Friday Week 31 Ordinary time - November 6, 2020

DATE : 6/11/2020, Friday of the 31st Week in Ordinary Time (A) EVENT : Mass of the Weekday COLOUR : GREEN READINGS : Phil.3:17-4:1; Resp. Psalm 121:1-5; Luke 16:1-8. THEME: HEAVEN IS SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST, SO BE ASTUTE Greetings beloved people of God. I welcome you to "My Catholic Homily Digest". I wish to reflect with us on the theme, " Heaven is Survival of the Fittest, So be Astute". Beloved, One of the strong principles which ensures the continuity of a creature in the animal kingdom, especially in the ladder of food chain is the survival of the fittest. Thus, the strongest, cleverest and fastest animal usually outwit the others in grabbing the available food material that will help to sustain its survival and wellbeing. Unfortunately, this same animal mentality of the survival of the fittest, and winner takes it all, is also found among intelligent and rational creatures like man and woman. This is why human beings can do anything to survive, even if it warrant eliminating a fellow human person. This is also explains why a person can poison his neighbour especially when he or she perceives that the person in question constitutes a stumbling block to his or her success and happiness. Beloved, I have always wondered what message Christ is trying to pass with the story of the astute steward in today's Gospel passage. The lesson is this dear friends, If we can be astute, shrewd, smart, clerver and have foresight to foresee and avert an impending danger which poses as a threat to our earthly, mortal and temporal survival, then why can't we also make use of the same astute and shrewd foresight to foresee those spiritual and moral dangers which poses as threats to our eternal survival in heaven. Child of God, like the astute steward in the Gospel of today, Luke 16:1-8; Some day, God is going to call us to give an account of our spiritual stewardship. When that day comes what do you think will be your saving grace? Hear me, your saving grace would only be those spiritual works of mercy, charity, kindness and love, which through a smart usage of your astuteness, you have stored for yourself as treasures in heaven. I pray God to help us to be and remain faithful servant of His....God bless you #End Sars, #End Political Oppression #End Bad Governance. Oh that today you would listen to his voice harden not your hearts (Ps.95:7-8) LET US PRAY : Lord Jesus, help me to be a wise and faithful steward of the resources you put at my disposal, including the use of my time, money, and possessions....Amen HAPPY WEEKEND BELOVED FRIENDS (BARKA DA JUMA'A) @ Fada Emmanuel Nnamdi Megwara, MSP. ⛪
