THEME: IS YOUR NAME WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE?

Greetings beloved people of God. I welcome you to "My Catholic Homily Digest". Today, I wish to reflect with us on the theme "Is your Name Written in the Book of Life". In the Apocalyptic literatures, we are told that on the day of judgments, books shall be opened, and the conducts of each person would be laid bare. Those whose names are contained in the book of LIFE shall proceed to heaven, while those whose names are missing will be treated accordingly (Rev. 20:15).

Although we all bear the name Christian, and call God our Father, we recall that Jesus had warned us that it is not all those who call Him Lord...Lord that will enter the kingdom of heaven, but those who do the will of God. Moreso, just like the disciples who performed several miracles, sign and wonders in the Gospel of today, many of us are only fascinated by external manifestations of religion, miracles, breakthroughs, testimonies etc. We do not bother if how we went about to achieve these testimonies is pleasing to God. Many us today are cosmetic or plastic Christians, we have no strong root, no faith, no long term value. We are like China products that is marketable, cheap and affordable, but are not originals.

A preacher once said that 'many men and women of God, bishops, priests, pastors and prophets, will go to Hades because they pay too much attention to what God can and have done through them, than on how they struggle to produce acts that will secure their names in the book of life.' In 1Pet. 4:17, Apostle Peter said "judgement will begin from those in the house of God". So, beloved people of God, especially my fellow preachers, let us reduce the toomuch emphasis on material prosperity, quest for the most powerful miracle minister and put more efforts at ensuring that our names are written in the book of life. God bless you

Oh that today you would listen to his voice harden not your hearts (Ps.95:7-8)

LET US PRAY : Lord Jesus, help me with your grace so that after slaving for you on earth, my name will not be found wanting in the book of life.... Amen
