THEME: HOW STRONG IS YOUR SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION

Greetings beloved people of God. I welcome you to "My Catholic Homily Digest". On this third day of December in which we celebrate the memorial of St. Francis Xavier, I wish to reflect with us on the theme: " How Strong is Your Spiritual Foundation". Beloved, we know that the most important aspect of any building is its foundation. Thus, once the foundation is faulty, that building can never stand. As human persons and children of God, we are like buildings, and as such, the strength of our foundation determines how far we can go in life, how much we can withstand the storms and trials of life and how we can be able to defeat the evil forces that wrestle against us (Cf. Eph. 6:12). Child of God, we must know that just like the wind, rains, Sun, flood and erosion hit and attack every building, so also the storms of life, disappointment, failures, sickness, and the forces of evil will constantly hit and attack us, so as to sway and bring us down just like floods bring down houses.

In the various readings of today, we are given the picture of a strong city, which was built on a strong and rocky foundation thereby enabling it to withstand whatever weather conditions that came at it. Unlike the houses which were built on a sandy and shaky foundation, that easily gave way and fell as soon as the slightest wind blew at it. Unfortunately dear friends, many of us are like buildings standing on sandy and shaky grounds. We are easily swayed and tossed about by the storms of life. We easily get discouraged and lose faith once we are faced with failures and disappointments and we are easily struck down by the devil at will. What a great fall indeed many of us have fallen a hundred times over, simply because we refuse and still are refusing to build a solid foundation in Christ. Even the Bible is replete with passages of God's as our strongest foundation: Isaiah speaks of God as an "everlasting rock" (Is. 26:4). He is the rock of refuge and deliverance (Psalm 18:2) and the rock in whom there is no wrong (Psalm 92:15).

Child of God, are you tired of being tossed about by the wind of life? Are you resolved to build and give your life a strong foundation that can withstand all the assorts of the devil especially this festive season? Do you want to resist and take charge and control the forces of nature? Are you tired of staying fallen to the ground and wish to stand back on your feet? Then make the Lord Jesus and his word the rock, anchor, standard and foundation of your life. Soak yourself in the word of God by reading a passage of the Bible daily, make yourself formidable by spending at least 30 minutes at prayer daily, fast from your favourites from time to time, go to confession frequently, try to avoid every occasions of sin, give to support the work of God and be generous to people around you. If you do these, then be sure nothing can shake you nor keep you from God's presence and protection. God bless you

Do not be afraid for you will be remembered in my priestly prayers throughout this month. God bless you

#End Sars,

#End Political Oppression

#End Bad Governance

Oh that today you would listen to his voice harden not your hearts (Ps.95:7-8)

LET US PRAY :Lord Jesus, you are the only foundation that can hold me up when trials, disaster and the evil one threaten me. Give me the wisdom, foresight, and strength of character I need to do what is right and the courage to reject whatever is false and contrary to your will......

The Lord be with you....... and with your Spirit.

May Almighty God bless you the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit......Amen
