Fr. Emmanuel Megwara, MSP - Homily for Saturday Week 31 Ordinary time - November 14, 2020

DATE : 14/11/2020, Saturday of the 32nd Week in Ordinary Time (A) EVENT : Mass of the weekday or BVM COLOUR : GREEN READINGS : 3John 1:5-8; Resp. Psalm 111:1-6; Luke 18:1-8. THEME: ONLY IF YOU HAD PERSEVERED A LITTLE LONGER Greetings beloved people of God. I welcome you to "My Catholic Homily Digest". As this week draws to a close, I want to reflect with us on the theme " If Only You had Persevered a Little Longer" Beloved, one of the many limitations we have as humans is that we cannot foresee for sure, what the future holds for us. At best, we could make near perfect predictions. Even those who claim to have some mystical powers, cannot say for sure exactly what will happen in the future and guarantee its fulfilment. They can only make conjectures, prophecies and predictions. It is only God that can see the end from the beginning, He alone knows with full certainty what will happen in the next minutes or in few years. This is what makes Him God and the supreme Being. Beloved, Perseverance is a difficult virtue which many believers lack. As a people, we are too anxious for answers, results, miracles and so on. Thus, often times, we fail to try a second and third time because we got a silence response the first time. Hear me child of God, the poor widow in today's Gospel reading would not have gotten her heart's desire if she had given up at only a few attempts. No, she was full of perseverance, the dared the odd, she kept pushing and walking forward when all others would have turned back. And at last the heartless kind, granted her wish. Beloved, from the definition of perseverance (continuing in a course of action without regard to discouragement, opposition or previous failure), we see that discouragement, failure and a cold response are a necessary part of our struggle, yet, one who perseveres will always come out victorious, happy, fulfilled, and renewed. Listen to me child of God, I do not know the challenge or difficulty you are in right now, but I say to you today, do not be discouraged, do not give up, do not let go, keep praying, keep pushing, keep believing and trusting, for sooner than you expect, you shall achieve and receive whatever you are looking for, because Scripture says: Your perseverance will win you your heart desire. Luke 21:19. God bless you. #End Sars, #End Political Oppression #End Bad Governance. Oh that today you would listen to his voice harden not your hearts (Ps.95:7-8). LET US PRAY : Lord Jesus, in every situation I face whether trials, setbacks, or loss may I always find strength in your unfailing love and grace to trust in your power to save me....Amen @ Fada Emmanuel Nnamdi Megwara, MSP. ⛪
