THEME: ANGELIC INTERFERENCE AND APOSTOLIC MISSION

Greetings beloved people of God. I welcome you to "My Catholic Homily Digest". On this Fourteenth day of April, which is also the third day of the Second Week of Eastertide, I wish to reflect with you on the theme: " Angelic Interference And Apostolic Mission". Beloved in Christ, do you know that angels are not mystery beings but real existents. They are always at the service of man and are meant to deliver God's message of blessing or responsibility to us. Although angels are God's primary messengers, they lack the corporal nature to effect certain goals, especially when it requires tangibles. So, God is always in need of hands, of legs and of mouths to assist in bringing about His desired plans. Thus, once a person has being designated for a particular duty, the angels of God will be released to ensure that nothing stops the person from executing the divine task. Now, we need to understand that for every divine task that has been allotted, both good and evil forces compete for supremacy. The former making sure that it is accomplished and the later struggling to frustrate its accomplishment.

In the first reading of today, Acts, 5:17-26, we are told that the  Scribes and the chief priests got hold of the Apostles and put them in prison. This is part of the demonic plan to frustrate the apostolic mission of the believers. Jesus Christ had commissioned them to go and proclaim the Good News of God's salvation to the ends of the earth. But this is being truncated by the imprisonment which they now suffer in the hands of the Sanhendrin. However, because the powers of evil can only try, but cannot put a complete stop to the Gospel. The angels of God were sent to miraculously release and send them to continue their apostolic mission. Now often times, when the evil ones wage their battles against the servants of God, it is only to carnal eyes that they may seem to get the better of believers. But the divine touch of God's angels make all their efforts vain. Most times, the challenges posed by the devil may be so loud and cumbersome and the deliverance of the angel less visible and felt. But, like water, which acts gently but powerfully, through the touch of the angel, our wellbeing is certainly wrought out. No matter the situation or the challenges that we might encounter when on Apostolic assignment, the master of the work will always send us help. All we need to do it not to trust in man's help but in God's resources.

Child of God, by virtue of our collective baptism, we all share in the apostolic ministry, although in varied degrees and according to our status and position in life. This apostolic ministry is non other than making Christ known and felt by all those whom we encounter every day of our lives. So, both as active ministers of the Gospel (priests, deacons, Rev. Sisters, lay evangelists and preachers), or as passive ministers of the Gospel (market women, bankers, business people, husbands, wives, government workers and private entrepreneurs), we all have a responsibility toward the proclamation of the Good News. But you know what, like the Sanhendrin, the devil will try to constitute lots of challenges, discouragments, setbacks disappointments, regrets, obstacles and prisons to inhibit us. But I wish to encourage you, do not allow your spirit to be downtrodden, do not become forlorn, do not lose faith, do not get tired of being good, do not be disappointed. Be assured that the angel which God sent to miraculously liberate the Apostles today, will also be sent to liberate you from whatever form of limitation or prison that you are currently facing.

Oh that today you would listen to his voice harden not your hearts (Ps.95:7-8).

LET US PRAY : Lord Jesus, sent forth your spirit, to come and strengthen us on our various apostolic missions and your angels to lift us from the prison of the evil ones...

The Lord be with you....... and with your Spirit.

May Almighty God bless you in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit ....Amen

 HAPPY MID-WEEK BELOVED FRIENDS
