THEME: DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT GOD'S LAWS

Greetings beloved people of God. I welcome you to "My Catholic Homily Digest". On this Tenth day of March, I wish to reflect with you on the theme: " Do Not Try To Circumvent God's Laws". Beloved, it is often said that, 'laws are made for man and not man for the law'. This means that no matter what the law stipulate, it cannot be prized above the dignity of the human person. Once the life of a human person is dangerously involved, all laws are relaxed. But, above all else, we must recognise that all laws, whether divine law, natural law or positive law, are made to enhance the well-being of man. To foster a cordial interaction between human persons, to facilitate man's relationship with God and the entire cosmos. Thus, man is always at the centre of every law.

However, many of us try to beat the law. Just as most Nigerian drivers try to beat the traffic light, whenever no road safety personal is in sight. They forget that the traffic laws are meant to keep them safe. In the first reading of today, Deut. 4:1,5-9, we heard how Moses enjoined the people to try their best to observe all the commands of God, and never to disregard any of them. Since, it is out of deep love that God gave them His laws, they must perpetually keep the laws at heart and pass them on to the next generation. To further proof the binding force of the law and the need to observe them faithfully; Jesus told us through the Gospel of today, Matt. 5:17-20, that Himself did not come to abolish but to fulfil the law of God. Thus, it is a grave offence for anyone to try to circumvent, beat or change any of the decrees of God. For the laws of God are all of them true and they give life.

Dearest, God's laws are not meant to inhibit us. They are not meant to limit us. In fact, just like the traffic laws, are meant to prevent vehicular collision and to lead us safely to our destinations. God's laws are meant to keep us on track. To lead us safely to paradise and to prevent us from colliding with the evil forces flying recklessly in our world. Be assured that if you try to circumvent or break the laws of God, you stand a high risk of having a collision. I pray God to help us to faithfully obey His commands especially when it seems difficult to do so.

Oh that today you would listen to his voice harden not your hearts (Ps.95:7-8).

LET US PRAY : Lord Jesus, grant me the grace to always put in my best in observing your decrees and never to circumvent it......

The Lord be with you....... and with your Spirit.

May Almighty God bless you in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit ....Amen

 HAPPY MID-WEEK BELOVED FRIENDS
