THEME:  SPIRITUAL INDIFFERENCE: THE PITFALL OF MANY BELIEVERS

Greetings beloved people of God. I welcome you to "My Catholic Homily Digest". On this Eleventh day of December, I wish to reflect with us on the theme: " Spiritual Indifference: The Pitfall of Many Believers". Beloved, have you ever wondered why the lead singers, the instrumentalists, the camera people, Ushers, the evangelists, prayer intercessors, seminarians, deacons, priests and those at the Altar do not fall down or get carried away by the Holy Spirit during a revival or Crusade. The question is, are they immuned to the power or prompting of  the Holy Spirit? I think the answer is what I choose to refer as spiritual indifference.

Beloved, I was preaching at a gathering of believers sometimes last year, when a young man shouted " TELL DEM"from the crowd. As soon as I heard him say that,  I quickly responded to him saying, " No, I will not tell dem, rather I will tell you", and I made a move towards his direction. Now, the mindset of this young man, is not far from how many of us think or reason whenever spiritual matters are been discussed. We often do not allow prayers and preaching to get at us because we feel they are addressed not to us, but to them. This explains why prayers and preaching can be going on at a place, and just besides that same place, people are buying and selling, passing by disinterestedly, or doing some other things. Thus, in today's Gospel Jesus chastised the Pharisees for their spiritual indifference, when he likened them to children in the market place who refused to dance to a musical tune or mourn at the sound of the mournful melodies. Just like these children, many of us who are believers have grown cold feet to the summons of the Gospel. Homilies, preachings, and prayers no longer prick our consciences. What a pity.

Listen to me beloved, know you today that spiritual indifference is a mark of contempt for the things of heaven, it dulls our senses to hear the voice of God, it makes us enemy of the Good News of Jesus, it is a sign of spiritual blindness and an indicator of being spiritually moribund. I pray God will give us the grace to always respond to the Gospel messages and the promptings  of the Holy Spirit.

Do not be afraid for you will be remembered in my priestly prayers throughout this month. God bless you

Oh that today you would listen to his voice harden not your hearts (Ps.95:7-8)

LET US PRAY :Lord Jesus, open my ears to hear the good news of your kingdom and set my heart free to love and serve you joyfully. May nothing keep me from following you wholeheartedly.....

The Lord be with you....... and with your Spirit.

May Almighty God bless you the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit......Amen

HAPPY WEEKEND TO YOU BELOVED FRIENDS
