THEME: YOUR CHARACTER IS YOUR FRUIT, MAKE IT TO TASTE SWEET

Greetings beloved people of God. I welcome you to "My Catholic Homily Digest". As we enter the last working day of this week, I want to reflect with us on the theme " Your Character is your Fruit, Make it to Taste Sweet". Beloved, during my seminary days, we had a priest-formator, Rev. Fr. Raymond Aina, MSP, who would often say to us: I cannot read your hearts or know the intention behind your actions so, I can only judge you based on your character and the actions I see you carry out". Beloved, there are many of us who have the best of intentions behind most of our actions, but at the end, people will always misunderstand us and term our actions bad or evil. So, no matter how sweet or pure your mind and intention are, if people cannot see it visibly in your actions then it is as good as useless. Although, we are not supposed to live our lives trying to please people or get public approval, since it is to God alone that we will give account and He can read our intentions, so that is what matters the most. But...

Child of God, in the Gospel reading of today, Jesus used the flowering of the fig tree to teach us a lesson. The fig tree cannot bear another kind of fruit apart from figs once its time is due. The fig draws nutrient and grows from the inside before it is noticed physically on the outside. This is the same with us, if the heart of a person is pure and sweet, it will definitely be noticed on the outside through the character of the person. Listen dear friends, do not deceive your self, you cannot claim to have good intentions in your mind, to be pure at heart and to love God, when you cannot put a smile on the face of your brother or sister, when you do not greet your neighbour, when you are not at talking terms with some of your friends, when you nurse jealousy at another's success and cannot live in peace with people without causing unnecessary irritations.

Beloved, it is commendable to have good intentions, but it is even more important to have a good character that will ensure that you live at peace with everyone and that you are recommended to God by everyone based on your good conduct. Remember the Latin Axiom "vox populi vox Dei" (the voice of the people is the voice of God). Thus, as we await the second coming of Christ, let us take the opportunity to purify our hearts, to change some of our unbecoming character and seek to live at peace with others, so that our names would be found in the book of life when it is opened. God bless you

#End Sars,

#End Political Oppression

#End Bad Governance

Oh that today you would listen to his voice harden not your hearts (Ps.95:7-8)

LET US PRAY : Lord Jesus, help me to always be conscious of my actions so that it may not betray the good intentions I carry in my heart and mind....Amen

 HAPPY WEEKEND BELOVED FRIENDS
