 READINGS : 14:14-19; Resp. Psalm 95 10-13; Luke 21:5-11.

  THEME: BEWARE OF GULLIBLE PROPHECIES

Greetings beloved people of God. I welcome you to "My Catholic Homily Digest". As we celebrate the memorial of St. Andrew Dũng-Lạc and his Companions today, I want to reflect with us on the theme " Beware of Gullible Prophecies". Beloved, one of the lucrative businesses that people feel easily attracted to go into these days is opening of Church or worship centres. The reason for this multiplicity of churches and places of worship is not far fetched. Most people are hungry for God and need a figure of a god in their lives In fact, one of the renowned African scholars, Prof. John Mbiti, once said that, "the African man is notoriously religious", and sequel to this thoughts of Mbiti, the French scholar Voltaire have this to say: "Even if God were not to exist, man would invent one because the very thought of god commands fear and right actions". Most people who go into Church business know about this thirst for God in the human heart, and so, they exploit it very well.

In the Gospel reading of today, Jesus warns us to be very careful of fake preachers and prophets, of those who claim to have the power of prediction, of those who preach doom's day, of those who want to use unfounded fear to get us to do their bidding, of those whose desire is just to achieve cheap popularity by bearing false prophecies and revelations. Beloved, one of the tricks of these Gospel mongers is to instil fear inside of you by making a false revelation or prophecy for you. They may tell you that your grandmother is the cause of your childlessness, that your brother in-law is against your business breakthrough, that your neighbour in the market has planted a charm in your shop, that your ancestor buried a life virgin in your family compound that is why your family do not get married or prosper. Hear me child of God, take care not to be deceived, by these mostly untrue revelation, or what is known as, 'the more you look the less you see'. Because indeed, many will come using the name of Jesus to tell lies. Refuse to believe them and do not be frightened for God has a way of protecting the just.

Beloved friends, the chief purpose of religion is worship. Thus, a pure and undiluted worship is what pleases God the most. So, do not seek for prophecies and revelations more than you seek to worship God in truth and in Spirit. And if along the line God chooses to unveil a secret to you, let His name be praised. And to all you fake pastors, prophets and ministers of God, who prey on the people's gullibility, by issuing fake revelation which has wrecked so many homes and families today, all done in the name of money or popularity, i charge you to desist from such profane activities and ask for mercy from God before the sharp sickle of the angels of God would descend on you. God bless you

#End Sars,

#End Political Oppression

#End Bad Governance

#End fake prophecies

Oh that today you would listen to his voice harden not your hearts (Ps.95:7-8)

LET US PRAY : Lord Jesus, help me to seek your kingdom first and to reject whatever is contrary to authentic worship of you. Fill me with the joy and hope of your everlasting kingdom....Amen
