Fr. Emmanuel Megwara, MSP - Homily for Tuesday Week 31 Ordinary time - November 10, 2020

DATE : 10/11/2020, Tuesday of the 32nd Week in Ordinary Time (A) EVENT : St. Leo the Great (Memorial) COLOUR : WHITE READINGS : Titus 2:1-8,11-14; Resp. Psalm 36:3-3,18,23,27,29; Luke 17:7-10. THEME: BE PRUDENT LEST YOU CAUSE PUBLIC SCANDAL Greetings beloved people of God. I welcome you to "My Catholic Homily Digest". As we celebrate the memorial of St. Leo the Great, I want to reflect with us on the theme " Be Prudent Lest You cause Public Scandal". Beloved, with every status attained, there is an equivalent responsibility attached to it. This explains why an act committed by a celebrity will trend as news on the social media, but if the same and even more heinous crime is been committed by a no-body, it will pass as nothing, easily overlooked and forgiven. According to the English Webster dictionary, a scandal is any incident or event that disgraces or damages the reputation of the persons or organization involved, it can also mean a widespread moral outrage, indignation, as over an offence to decency. Hence, the evil of any scandal is that it does not only affect the moral agent (person) involved, but it does damage also to the organisation, group or sect which the moral agent (person), belongs to. Beloved, in the first reading of today, St. Paul admonishes us through his letter to Titus, that it is expedient for us to be careful with our words, actions, and inactions, lest we give a public scandal, thus bringing the Christian faith to disrepute. Even more dear friends, we should always act in such a manner that our adversaries and opponents will have nothing ill to think or say about us. Hear me, If you are a husband, take your responsibilities very serious, work to earn your respect as a father, so that you can have the moral courage to take charge and discipline your children. As a wife, be submissive, humble, respectful and obedient, so that you can win the love and affection of your husband and children. As a religious leader, priest, sister, evangelist, group coordinator, mind what you say and how you act in public, for many eyes are on you. Do not ever loss your guard. If you have to take alcohol, drink responsibly or in your house, If you must speak, watch your words, do not utter disdainful comment, watch where you go or enter. Not every place is suitable to have you. Mind the company you keep and walk with, mind the dress you put on. Dear friends, if only we all as Christians would be a little more prudent in the way we act and react to issues of life, I believe the world will not need as many preachers and churches as there are today, because in truth, what the world need is not more of Christian preachers but Christian crusaders, who are ready to bear witness to the Gospel by their lifestyles. God bless you. #End Sars, #End Political Oppression #End Bad Governance. Oh that today you would listen to his voice harden not your hearts (Ps.95:7-8). LET US PRAY : Lord Jesus, help me to always be conscious of my actions, so that I do not give public scandal by the choices I make daily.....Amen @ Fada Emmanuel Nnamdi Megwara, MSP. ⛪
